Each board in this five-pack integrates Wi-Fi connectivity directly onto the microcontroller itself, rather than needing a separate Wi-Fi shield or module wired in — which simplifies both the wiring and the code needed to get a project talking to a network. Five boards is enough for multiple simultaneous connected-device projects, or spares for a classroom or workshop setting.
Programming happens over a direct USB connection using common open-source development environments, and the GPIO pins broken out along both edges of the board follow a standard pitch compatible with breadboards and jumper wires.
